“She is the greatest assassin her world has ever known.
But where will her conscience, and her heart, lead her?

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king’s contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king’s bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she’s given a task that could jeopardize everything she’s come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon — forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice. Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she willing to fight for?”

Amazon Synopsis

What I say in this review, will not do this book justice. It was amazing! My favorite book of this year! My favorite book of all time! It was a whirlwind of emotions and the ending was absolutely shocking yet great. The action, romance and magic is even better than the first book but seriously if you thought Throne of Glass was exceptional, then Crown of Midnight will blow you away.

Once again this book  was amazing, I actually cried in the ending, it was so powerful and unexpected. Packed with plot twists and extremely  fast-paced, this book exceeded all my expectations. The Romance was again carefully woven into the story without foreshadowing the main plot but with a new love interest. It was just beautiful and I loved how it focused on Celaena’s job as the King’s Champion, while creating this exciting atmosphere.  Like I said I have not done this book justice.

If you have read Throne of Glass, and have yet to pick up Crown of Midnight, pick it up right now! You won’t regret it at all. Rating: Way, way, way beyond 5/5 Stars. Thank you for reading. Like, Comment and Follow me, if you like.

Author Love #2: Sarah J. Maas

The author of this week is Sarah J. Maas. This woman has inspired me so much, with her beautiful writing and amazing Throne of Glass Series (Review of Crown of Midnight coming up soon!). She is extremely talented at crafting absolutely wonderful and interesting stories. And I can definitely say, hand on heart, that she is my absolute favorite author and that The Throne of Glass series is my best-loved series of all time. Sarah J. Maas has accomplished so much at such a young age, first publishing her novel at the age of sixteen on FictionPress, it going on to be the most reviewed story on the website and then Sarah’s 10 year path to publication. She is such a huge inspiration, a very remarkable person. I absolutely can’t wait to read more from her.

Be sure to check Sarah J. Maas’ Blog/Website:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Throne-of-Glass-BIG“Nothing is a coincidence.Everything has a purpose. You were meant to come to this castle.Just as you were meant to be an assassin.”

“In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.”

Amazon Synopsis

The Throne of Glass is a gem in the ever-evolving fantasy field. I enjoyed this book so much! I went in with no expectations and I was blown away. It was a perfect merge of all the elements that one would love in a book. Maas first published her first draft of this book at the tender age of 16 on a website, the book was recieved really well with tons of fan mail flooding her inbox and 10 years later after redrafting countless times Bloomsbury published it in 2012. As you can see Mass is a very inspirational person and she has definitely inspired me to attempt writing a draft for a novel. If you haven’t read ToG I recommend you pick it up, scroll down to the amazon link below to purchase it. Now onto the detailed-may contain minor spoilers-review:

I felt this book was perfectly paced, with beautiful world and character building. I instantly fell in love with Calaena Sardothien (protagonist), her character was well developed and her backstory, that built up to her becoming the most notorious assassin in the land of Erilea, made me shed a few tears. The fantasy element was amazing, with that twinge of suspense and mystery. The action in the story had me sitting on the edge of my seat, it left me gasping for breath at certain points and goosebumps literally climbed my arms and legs . The romance wasn’t rushed and did not have the love-at-first-sight element that I personally despise, it is woven into the story so that it wouldn’t ruin the plot but compliment it. The princess (Nehemia) was such an amazing person and a great friend for lonely, tortured yet ruthless Calaena. The antagonists were great at being evil and served the story well. The end of this breath-taking story left me wanting more and I have began reading the sequel Crown of Midnight, this will be a six book series, the third book will come out September 2nd 2014. Mass’ poignant, sharp and descriptive style has won me over. 5/5 stars.
